History of the stream - Part 1 -
How it all began

Humble Beginings

I started streaming on twitch around October 2013. Up until that point, I would just watch Shrek all day or play a lot of league of legends ranked, play in tournaments for Subway $50 Giftcards and talked to girls in Kevin's clan teamspeak. I also was on a few teams back then attempting to get into the LCS (professional league of legends). I spent a lot of time practicing with various teams, but I was eventually kicked from every one. They all gave the same reason for kicking me, that I "could only play ap sion". Maybe in another blog I will talk about that more.

After that I was real sad for a while and gave up on joining a competitive team forever. My friend Kevin told me that I should stream so he could watch my games without having to spectate. I streamed pretty much solely for him he was my only viewer my first 2-3 weeks streaming. I figured nobody would want to watch my stream which was fine, but I only turned it on if Kevin wanted to see my game.

If it weren't for Kevin I would have likely never streamed or quit after my first one. Kevin told me my stream was more beast than a lot of league streamers and that I could get some more viewers if I streamed more. Streaming was fun and I liked the idea of real viewers, but IMO I wasn't good at streaming and didn't believe him. After talking with Kevin in skype for a long time about it I started checking out the more popular league streamers. I noticed a bunch of streamers with over a thousand viewers and suddenly felt better because while they were decent at league, their streams were not very fun to watch at all.

After Kevin showed me that a lot of popular streamers actually sucked balls I decided that I would try to improve my stream and have a go at it. I started using webcam and talking to chat and realized that streaming and being entertaining, is a lot harder than just playing the game. Back then I watched a few streamers, and tried to pick up on some of the reasons that made me like their streams.

The only streams I thought were worth watching back then were Reginald, XJ9, and Kaceytron. Reginald because he was one of the best players and funny, but was also passionate and gave insightful commentary on his gampeplay. XJ9 gave me some inspiration. He is banned now, but IMO would probably be bigger than Nightblue3 if that never happened since XJ9 was super good and a huge weirdo which kept people watching. I watched Kaceytron's stream all the time because she was real funny and reminded me of my friend Gullin15, Gullin was the first league streamer I ever watched (please unban gullin). Besides those few streamers I really didn't watch other streamers because they either seemed boring or it was obvious they just streamed for money and didn't try to be entertaining.

From that point on, I decided to try my best to make the stream as good as possible. It didn't matter if I had 5 viewers or 5000, I was gonna do everything I could to improve the stream and entertain whoever tuned in.

Thanks for reading!!!
In the next post I will try to write part 2 about how the stream blew up, how the fame went to my head, and my eventual downfall...
